Linda's new book:
"Linda' book
is a special guide book that features 30 day journeys in San Diego
county along with 55 them recipes. For instance, there's grilled grunion
and Crown Cove crunchy coleslaw for those night-time beach walks at
Coronado when the silversides are dong their mating dance; hot Mexican

"Peaks, Palms and Picnics is a delicious read. It
explains where to go for a great hike while telling compelling stories
about what you see as you hike. The inclusion of recipes...is a
tummy-pleasing bonus." ---Lukas Velush, The Desert Sun
Peaks, Palms and Picnics is author Linda McMillin Pyle's second shot at describing day journeys in the Coachella Valley desert and mountains. Some involve hiking. Some are not hikes at all--driving up to the cool greenery of the Rainbow Rancho Trout Farm in Whitewater Canyon. Some journeys in this revised edition of her first book are by car--a tour of the date country. But all of Pyle's trips include tidbits of history, lore and a easy recipe that thematically matches each adventure.

The San Clemente beach trail is under my feet

bog and the waves are
rolling toward the Atlantic shore. I am dreaming of the green hills of
Connemara
and Killarney.
